It is an honor and humbling privilege to be the Director of Missions for the Abilene-Callhan Baptist Association.  I was born and raised in Abilene, and after graduating from Abilene High School, I enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard a Submarine in the Atlantic Fleet.   Afterwards, I moved to Lubbock and worked in a grain processing plant, then began pursuing a degree in Agriculture at Texas Tech University.  Family invited me to attend church with them, and my future was changed.  I grew in my faith and discipleship, and met Dalena, who would become my wife (now for over 35 years).  I received a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (1990), and a Doctor of Ministry from Logsdon Seminary of Hardin-Simmons University (2012).

After serving as associate pastor and pastor for 4 churches, our family moved to Clyde in 1992, when I began farming and working in the business world (to pay for farming!, and to support a family of 5).  On April 1, 2001,  I was asked to preach for a group of believers who planned to assemble together for a possible new church start in Hawley; this church became Clearfork Baptist Church, where I was honored to serve as pastor for over 16 years.  I have had the honor and privilege of being pastor for folks in small churches, in rural settings, for over 25 years.

While in Lubbock, my "service" in the Lord's mission began as a volunteer for our church's outreach efforts, where I learned to love being "out" among people, on their turf and in their homes, where they are most comfortable.  Over the years, my desire to be with those who are away from God has forged a desire to be open to the creative ways in which the Holy Spirit might be working in the lives of people all around me; and, then, participate in what the Spirit is already doing.

Dalena serves our Lord as a high school Spanish teacher in Clyde, and our adult children serve our Lord where God has placed them: 1) as an elementary school principle in Fort Worth, 2) serving on an island along the Pacific Rim with Ethnos360, and 3) as a Radiological Technician at Hendrick Memorial Hospital.  We have 5 granchildren and are hopeful for more!

I genuinely love being a participant in the mission of Jesus, and especially doing so where I have spent most of my life: Taylor, Callahan, and Jones Counties!
