DR. LARRY TARVER
Director of Missions

It is an honor and privilege to be the Director of Missions for the Abilene-Callahan Baptist Association. I was born and raised in Abilene, and after graduating from Abilene High School, I enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard a Submarine in the Atlantic Fleet.  Afterwards, I moved to Lubbock and worked in a grain processing plant, then began pursuing a degree in Agriculture at Texas Tech University.  An aunt and uncle invited me to attend church with them, and my future was changed.  I grew in my faith and discipleship, and met Dalena, who would become my wife (now for over 40 years).

I received a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (1990), and a Doctor of Ministry from Logsdon Seminary of Hardin-Simmons University (2012).

After serving as associate pastor and then pastor for 4 churches, our family moved to Clyde in 1992, when I began farming and working in the business world (to pay for farming, and to support a family of 5).  On April 1, 2001,  I was asked to preach for a group of believers who planned to assemble together for a possible new church start in Hawley; this church became Clearfork Baptist Church, where I was honored to serve as pastor for over 16 years.  I have had the honor and privilege of being pastor for folks in small churches, in rural settings, for over 25 years.

We have 6 grandchildren and are hopeful for more! I genuinely love being a participant in the mission of Jesus, and especially doing so where I have spent most of my life: Taylor, Callahan, and Jones Counties!

MARSHA LANGFORD
Administrative Assistant

It has been a pleasure to work at the Abilene Callahan Baptist Association for the past 20 years. I began serving as part-time ministry assistant in April of 2000, and became the full-time ministry assistant when Shirley Stewart retired. I have served under three wonderful DOM’s: Truman Turk, Robert Williamson Jr., and Larry Tarver. Before coming to the ACBA I served as Pastor’s Secretary, Youth Minister’s Secretary, Education Secretary, Financial Secretary, and Ministry Assistant in churches in both Dallas and Abilene beginning in 1978.

I was married to Bob Langford for 39 1/2 years before his death. We had two sons and there are ten grandchildren. I love spending time with my sons and their families. I have been a member of Belmont Baptist Church since we moved to Abilene in 1984. I have served as the ministry assistant there since 1988.
